Can you recommend a good English to Spanish translation ap - with sound - for IPhone?. I am learning some basic travel-friendly Spanish but feel certain I will need some assistance - especially with the rapid speed of native speakers.

Google translate will do the job. It covers many languages including Spanish.

iTranslate Voice. Has Catalan and lots of other languages. You say what you want, the app translates it into text, then into the desired language. Very cool.

One point to note about some the translator app's is that they may require a data connection. Some translators can be downloaded so they reside in the phone, but that function may not be available for all platforms.
Another point to mention is that I've found that the smartphone translator app's work so some extent with words and short phrases, but in terms of actually allowing a conversation back and forth from one language to another, they have some limitations. I conducted some experiments in Italian and French using Google Translate when I was in Europe last month, and wasn't entirely pleased with the results. A smartphone translator can help in some situations, but the technology still needs some work.

I have had ver good results with iTranslate app. I have it on my phone and iPad.
But yes, we need wi-fi or cellular connection.
