Friends have a two week stay booked in Tarifa end if January but would like an additional week around Malaga for the week prior to give them time to adjust to time zone. Do you suggest Torremolinos or?
For my own personal knowledge, what would the temp be like at this time?
Last December we stayed at the Sahara Sunset in Benalmadena and were pleased. Very nice apartments at a reasonable rate. The beach and the bus were 1 block away. The grocery was a five minute walk away. While it was clearly “off-season”, there were many restaurants and shops open. You do need to be okay with stairs to stay here due to the nature of the building.
I’ve stayed at the Sahara Sunset before as well. It’s in a good location for restaurants, buses and you can walk to the train station in Arroyo from there. Paloma Park is 5 mins away and really lovely.
Benalmadena is a large, purpose built holiday resort so just be aware of that. Most of the apartment blocks are pretty ugly, but you can use it as base to explore the area especially if you have a car. Even without there are plenty of taxis and public transport options.
Why not stay in Malaga itself, it's a fantastic city! Loads to see and do even if the weather isn't good (which depends on luck more than historical data)
