Quiet Barcelona and Madrid Hotels

My wife and I are first time travelers to Barcelona and Madrid in September 2025. Have reviewed the RS hotels in the Spain travel book, but did not find much comment on how quiet some of the recommended hotels are. We know to stay off the Las Ramblas and other main streets.
Looking for any good (quiet) experiences that can be shared. We are 3 nights in Barcelona and 4 nights in Madrid.

Appreciate any of your thoughts.
Safe travels everyone.

Madrid: We stayed at the Petit Palace Hotel in Puerto del Sol. We had a room in the back, that overlooked a side street with a grocery store entrance, so little to no noise. Location was excellent, and I would recommend the breakfast. We have found that if you ask for a room in the back, and away from the elevator, you can get some quiet options.

Barcelona: it was back in 2014, so can't speak to pricing, etc now. But Hostal Grau (Ramelleres Street 27) is pretty centrally located, not far from Las Ramblas, lots of shops, restaurants, Placa del Catalunya metro, etc. I mention it because we were amazed how quiet the room was once you closed the interior blackout shutters.

Check the hotels to see if they have soundproofed windows and patio doors. We stayed in hotels facing the busy plazas and had no noise issues.

We stayed at Hotel Catalonia Plaza Mayor in Madrid which had very soundproof windows.

My husband and I stayed at HCC Montblanc in Barcelona pre and post cruise about a month ago. We really liked the hotel and the location, a couple of blocks away from Las Ramblas. The first stay our room had a nice view of the street but when we opened the window, it was quite loud at night. When we returned for one night after our cruise, our room was in a different area of the hotel, overlooking the pool and was very quiet. So if you decided to book there, I would ask for a quiet room.

Stay away from the SOl and Gran Via areas in Madrid for quiet.

I will give you the name of my hotel in Madrid if you let us know your price range. It's VERY quiet!
