Question about passport number for Alhambra tickets

My husband and I are going to Spain this fall and will be in Granada mid-October. I'd like to buy our Alhambra tickets now, but there's a problem. I am in the process of renewing my passport. The RS Spain guidebook says we'll need passport numbers to buy the tickets, but the number of the passport I'm renewing is different from the number my new one will have. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with buying Alhambra tickets under one passport number and using them under another. If we do this, I'll of course present both the new passport and the expired one when we try to enter.

They are just looking for some type of identification. Can you wait till you have received the new passports? Or else just bring the old passports with you.

So many Spanish systems call for national identity or passport numbers, but they are very rarely actually checked. I cant imagine would be any problem if you have the old ones.

My husband and I will also be in Granada in October. I'll wait a while before buying the tickets for the Alhambra, though. The ticket-buying site gives the number of tickets available for the days and times. Might you keep checking that site while waiting for your new passport? You could make your decision as ticket availability becomes less. Maybe by then you'll have your new passport.

They definitely asked for my passport at some point in Granada. You should certainly take the old one with you if need to buy the ticket before you receive your new passport.

Are they asking Specifically for passports or a form of identification? James E on another post suggested using our drivers license

I would keep an eye on how tickets are selling for the day you want to go. They have a different color for if tickets are getting low on certain days. If that happens, I would buy my ticket using my old passport number. It's a risk, but you have options to fix it. One is to carry the old passport with you and hope they understand. The other is to contact the Alhambra and ask them to change the number after you get the new passport. I had a digit left off mine when I booked. They fixed it for me. Your passport number is how they "track" you in Spain and we were required to give it almost every place we stayed and booked or bought tickets. The Alhambra was interesting. We did the palace first, and they wanted to see our tickets. When we went to the fortress, they didn't want to see our tickets but we had to show our passports.
