Quarantine in Spain

I’m hoping someone can help me understand requirements and restrictions due to CoVID, if one tests positive while in Spain.
We are trying to decide whether to go to Spain, Ireland, or Italy, (or a combination of 2) and the determining factor will be ease of return to the US.

The US requires us to test negative to return to the US. I’m concerned about what we would do, if one of us tests positive while in Spain or if we are a close contact of someone who tests positive while in Spain.

What happens if we test positive while in Spain? Is it mandatory government run isolation, or can we isolate at our hotel? How many days does Spain require for isolation?

If we test positive, and are asymptomatic, while in Spain will Spain allow us to fly if we get a note of recovery from a US physician (via telemedicine) on day 5?

Does Spain require PCR testing to leave quarantine?

Any isolation required for close contacts?

Thanks so much.
Trying to figure out what contingency plans we would need to get onto place.

It's not clear if you are asking about a positive test once you return to the US, and/or a positive test while visiting in your chosen countries.

You do not mention if you are vaccinated. Might I suggest the website Reopen.europa.eu for a start? It's been helpful for us.

There was an article in El País on 20 December 21 addressing your question. There was also a article with some links on the travelsafe.spain.info that may help somewhat. The ministry of health website provides a list of things to do if you have symptoms. I’m sure one of our Spanish residents will have better information.
