Hello! We will be visiting Madrid next month and plan to visit the Prado Museum. We will have three teens with us (13, 15, 16). On the Prado official website, it states that youth 18 and under receive free admission. However, when I go through the purchase process the ticket options are or general admission, reduced (which does not apply to us) or "free admission for children under 12". Have the entry ages changed? Any advices as to how to confirm the entry for the three teenagers? We would also like to take a guided tour. Advice on the tour welcomed! Thank you!
From the tickets page, select the type admission for the adults first. Then, select the button that says gratis or free. From the list it comes after the reduced fare and before the art walk pass.
If you try to select the free tickets first, you’ll get a message saying you cannot get free tickets online without previously selecting another product type.
This is what comes up when adding free tickets:
“Children under 18 years of age, students between 18 and 25 years of age, unemployed, active teaching staff... (consult Price resolution). Collection. Does not include temporary exhibitions with capacity control. The beneficiary of free admission must be accredited in person at the box office on the day of the visit. People with disabilities (degree of 33% or higher), contact the CAV to reserve your tickets (91 0683001, [email protected])”
Thank you so much! I now see the option for "free admission" once the general ticket was selected. We would all like to go on the guided tour. I purchase the $10 for each of us, even the children under 18, correct?
My guess is that is correct. I’ve never taken a guided tour of the museum. Hopefully, somebody who has taken the tour has the answer.
