Public transportation to, from, and around Haro

I need to get my wife and daughter from Madrid to Haro the first week in Spain. I just realized that they won't be renting a car, for reasons I won't bore you with.

The Renfe site says it can't be done, the Alvia site seems to tell me that it can be done but I can't do it online now.

I've sent an inquiry in to the Alvia site but I figured I'd check in here.

Does anyone have any advice about getting from Madrid to Haro, and/or from Haro to San Sebastian using public transportation?

And any information about how to get from Haro to/from Marques de Riscal would be helpful, as well.

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

HI Kevin, I would suggest the Alsa buslines. They go directly from the Barajas airport Terminal 4 to Logroño five times a day. And from Logroño there are various buses to Haro.

There is a bus line, the La Union which goes from Bilbao to Logroño and stops in Haro and Elciego. Their webpage doesn't seem to be working, but here is the info for the town of Elciego. There is also a bus from Haro to Donostia

Thought I'd close the loop and make a recommendation if anyone is interested.

I got them from Madrid to Haro by train with a train change in Zaragosa, and from Haro to San Sebastian through Miranda del Ebro.

While in Haro they needed to get around one day and we were fortunate to be put in contact with Francisco Ruiz, who we hired to drive them from Haro to the (incredible!) Hotel Marque's de Riscal, then come back a few hours later to bring them back to Haro. On the way back, he insisted on taking them out of his way to show them the beautiful town of LaGuardia.

So if you need a cab in Rioja, contact Francisco Ruiz at fruiz986@gmail.com or by phone at 608 888 695.
