We are staying several days in San Sebastian I would like to use public transportation to travel to St. John Pied du Por. In reading the Rick Steves Spain guide book I cannot comprehend an efficient route from San Sebastian to St. John for a day trip. Does anybody have suggestions?
Thanks

This not an efficient route either but:
You have to take the Euskotren from San Sebastian to the end of the line the border town Hendiaye.

At Hendiaye you catch the SNCF train to St. John Pied de Port.

This would be too far for my taste as a daytrip as it takes 4 hours to get there
Ya...this is a rather difficult route. The train to Hendaye, then to Bayonne, and then up and over to St Jean is the best way. Check out rome2rio.com and it will tell you exactly how to do it. Are you walking the Camino? I walked it last summer if you have questions.
Alsa buslines has service to St. Jean from San Sebastian. It is a 3h45m trip and is 30.05€
