I am having the most difficult time trying to purchase 2 ticket to the Alhambra in Granada in May at official sigte https://tickets.alhambra-patronato.es/en/tickets-alhambra-general. I know today March 1 is the first day of sales so the site is VERY slow. However when I do finally get access and get to the enter the information for each person in step 3 "Contact Details" it wants me to fill out ticket holder information in an Excel Spreadsheet before continuing. I do not have EXCEL on my computer. I tried skipping that part (which I think is ridiculous to ask of the customer) but at the very end I get an error message that the transaction is rejected even though my credit card is fine. This seems to be the hardest and most complicated ticket purchase I have ever attempted in my life.
Does anyone know what I am missing here? On line Chat is impossible as the site is SO busy this first day of March.
They have modified the look of the website very recently. I can't get to the date-selection page at the moment, probably because of high volume. I can't imagine that they intend for purchasers to use Excel in the ticket-buying process, so I would keep trying. If you have the option of using a different browser, try that. Or switch to a different type of computer (tablet rather than desktop or vice versa). I'm using a desktop.
Edited to add: For others who might try to help, I also tried Googling for Dobla de Oro tickets so I could go straight to that screen. Same problem.
Thanks for your reply. In the Step 3, "Contact Details" you will see this:
Process to import visitors to reservations
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE AUTHORIZED USER AGENT TO FILL IN CORRECTLY THE NAMES AND SURNAMES IN THE EXCEL DOCUMENT PROVIDED. PLEASE REQUEST A PRIOR CHECK OF THE DATA BEFORE IMPORTING IT.

This is where I think I get stuck. It seems they want the customer to fill out an excel spreadsheet for them!
CaptD,
I just tried their website and received this message:
CloudFront attempted to establish a connection with the origin, but either the attempt failed or the origin closed the connection. We can't connect to the server for this app or website at this time. There might be too much traffic or a configuration error. Try again later, or contact the app or website owner.
If you provide content to customers through CloudFront, you can find steps to troubleshoot and help prevent this error by reviewing the CloudFront documentation.
I'd try again later.
You can also book your tickets by calling them directly @ +34 858 953 616.
Good luck!
Edited to add...
BTW, the operators speak English, French and Spanish.
We had our hotel get the tickets for us.
I bought tickets this morning. I had so many problems with the site, and I tried the chat line (not helpful) and was timed out of my phone calls after sitting on hold for a few minutes. Eventually I was able to set up an account and I didn't have to fill out an excel spreadsheet. I think what tripped me up on the set up was the way I was entering my phone number. I tried many different ways, but eventually the format that worked was +1 (888) 1234567 except I used my own phone number. I think that was it - the process literally took me hours.
I have been trying all day too. I was able to make an account. I tried calling. Now the site is down. Frustrating, but I'll keep trying.
The official website for booking Alhambra tickets is up and running NOW!
There are many tickets available for the month of May but selling fast.
PLEASE NOTE : There is a 30 minutes time limit to complete the booking process.
Good luck!
Thank you to this thread and tips, links etc... I was able to successfully and painlessly ordered Alhambra tickets today. This is what I did
Using link from Priscilla’s, I signed up for account with email & password. For ID, I chose passport #.
I bought tickets for Palaces Naz at night time for 4 adults (even though 2 would qualify for reductions—not worth the hassle I’ve read). At first, it showed the option of excel and upload etc.. *, but when I scroll further down,* there were blank places for each passenger information. (I used passport #’s for all of us) and phone number exactly as Vojo did.
I paid with credit card and was able to get pdf of tickets (also got them send to email)
Still logged in, I went back and bought 4 additional for Doble General using step 2 above. Worked again seamlessly.
Hope that helps!
Thanks for the helpful replies. I was able to purchase tickets easily on Monday March 2nd, ignoring the section of Excel questions. (why is it even there?). The sites incredible problems on March 1 were apparently fixed by next day. I did spend most of that Sunday on line trying to purchase those tickets a number of times. At one point, I got all the way to the purchase point, entered my Card number, and then got the message "Something went wrong" the transaction was hung up, and I never received a confirmation. Next day, when the site was working properly, I was able to purchase tickets easily and got a confirmation right a way. Three hours later, I got another confirmation, apparently for the failed purchase attempt the day before. So now I have been confirmed (with 2 different confirm codes) for two purchases and have been double billed because of the Alhambra site failure issues. Since then (it's been a full week) I have received no response to emails sent to the Official ticket purchase site regarding my request for a refund of the first purchase for which I never received a confirmation or any hint that my 1st request was in a queue if at all. Even though it's not a whole lot of money for two extra tickets at around 30 Euros (which we won't even be able to give away due to them being tied to your passport number and ID) I am very unhappy with the way the whole process took place. I recall when I visited the Alhambra more than 25 years ago and I was able to walk right up and get a ticket on the spot. Ah... the good old days!
I'd give the Alhambra a bit more time; it may be dealing with coronavirus-related inquiries as well as those due to the website issues. Then at some point, I guess I'd dispute the charge on the credit card.
