For there any recommendations for a good secure and reliable way to get a private car with a driver for the day in Barcelona? We would like to visit some of the wine regions outside of Barcelona, especially Priorat.

Check with Emily at South Ole Spain Tours. You can also check out reviews of her company on Trip Advisor.
We were in Spain last March, and Emily arranged a private driver for us, which allowed us to tour at our own pace and also allowed my husband (who otherwise would have been the driver) to enjoy the scenery along the way instead of watching the roads. Our driver pointed out sights along the way, then Emily also arranged a wonderful private guide for us at one of our stops, then the driver was there at the appointed time ready to take us to the next location. The driver was safe, courteous, on time. Emily was a delight to work with, and she followed up the day prior and then afterward to make sure we were satisfied. We were delighted.
And, I had also checked prices with many of the large services, and her price was much more reasonable.
She also offers group tours and can handle hotel arrangements, as well as private wine tastings, etc.
