We'll be traveling to Toledo on Saturday , November 4, from Madrid, is it necessary to purchase tickets ahead of time this time of year? We arrive in Madrid that Saturday morning from Barcelona via train with an eta of 11a. We're spending two nights, returning to Madrid on Monday.

We took the train to Toledo after flying into Madrid on Saturday, September 23. I did not buy tickets ahead, because I was concerned about flight delays. Upon arrival we purchased tickets at the Renfe office in Terminal 4 at the airport with no problem. I did, however, buy tickets ahead for our return to Madrid on the following Monday morning because I was worried about the train being full with commuters. I needn't have worried; our train was almost empty.
