Pre and post "Best of Andalucia" tour

We will be on the Best of Andalucia tour in early November. We'd like to extend our stay pre and post trip by seeing other cities in Andalucia area. We are already planning an extra day in Cordoba to see the Andalusian Horse show and a day after to make sure we see more of Seville. Willing to rent a car for a few days from Seville at the end of the tour (if necessary), but probably prefer public transportation. I welcome ideas not only from those who have done the tour, but from anyone who is familiar with the area. What are the experiences or "must sees" that we will wish we hadn't missed if we aren't so lucky to return. (Note: have already spent time in other parts of Spain, so mainly interested in Southern Spain). Considering Cadiz, Malaga (and/or Nerja) Jerez de la Frontera, other White Towns... ????

FYI - Rick Steves Andalucia tour covers Cordoba, Ubeda, Granada, Ronda, and Seville.

Thank you in advance!

If you get to Jerez (where I've never been), you'll be a reasonable bus ride from Arcos de la Frontera; the bus run takes something over 30 minutes, I think, and I believe the service is relatively frequent.

Carmona is a nice side trip by bus from Seville; the trip would probably take about an hour each way. Seville has two bus stations, so it's important to be sure which one your bus departs from. I'd give Arcos the advantage here, if only because Rick covers it in his guidebook, so you'll have a better idea of what to look for.

I liked both Cadiz and Malaga. I'd say Malaga was livelier in April 2019.

We stayed in Nerja in 2017. I would put several cities ahead of it - both for the city & the beaches. But, nearby Frigiliana, which is a 10-minute bus ride, is a lovely tiny white town. And there’s a good cave tour, also.

Acraven is correct. Arcos de la Frontera is 30 minutes from Jerez de la Frontera. If you had a rental car you could tour a number of the white villages as a day trip. Likewise, Cádiz is about 30 minutes from Jerez.
