Where can you buys Spanish postage stamps for the United states? Do I need to go to a post office or are they sold at news stands or? How much do postcard stamps cost there?

I can't tell you the exact price from Spain at this time, but it should be in the neighborhood of around 1 Euro, maybe a bit less. International postage rates lately cost the same to mail a postcard as a regular letter-sized envelope, but you may find cheaper, International postcard rates.

On a recent trip, we mailed our postcards in envelopes - the postage cost the same either way, and the postcards were protected and arrived at their destinations in better shape.

It is something pass a euro. A couple years ago it was 1.25 so I would expect it to be higher. Sometime the seller of the postcards will have stamps. Just ask.

Many of the tobacco shops have signs that are brown with yellow lettering. When I sent a couple back from Pamplona in May, they took less than two weeks to arrive at their destination. The people in the shops will know which stamp you need for a postcard and as others have said, it's a little over a Euro to send a postcard the the states.

I would suggest buying stamps from a tobacconist or a post office. When I bought postcards in Barcelona, the owner of the shop offered to sell me stamps (for the US) as well. I though, what a convenience!! For some reason I wanted to make sure everything was correct before I dropped them off, so I went into a post office in Barcelona to ask if the stamps were the right denomination to make it to the US. The very nice woman working there told me that I had been sold stickers, not stamps and that they were worthless. Lesson learned...

@Bill... Do you remember the store? give some clues, I'm sure I can figure it out for the rest and name names here.

Although I haven't bought stamps in ages, as far as I remember, stamps are ONLY sold in post offices -in Barcelona, there are around a dozen spread across the city- or at tobacconists.

Btw, here in Catalonia, many tobacconists are a sort of kiosks because often they also sell magazines and newspapers and even stationary. They might have a sign in the street with the word "Estanc" (Catalan for tobacconist), or sometimes "Tabacs" (Catalan for tobacco) and sometimes you'll recognize them by the logo "T" -like this - in their street sign, alongside their shop name.

PS: if you're visiting outside Catalonia, elsewhere in Spain, the names will be in Spanish instead, that is "Estanco", "Tabacos", etc. As you see, they're very similar as both languages derive from the same root: Latin
