Portugal/Spain

Hola!

Flying into Algarve-Faro on June 1 and flying out of Malaga on June 27.

It'll be my first time in Portugal. Hoping not to drive. Any thoughts about favorite/memorable places in Algarve to visit that are easy to get to by public transportation? Also, it'll be my first time visiting Morocco so happy to hear any thoughts.

Also, here's my potential itinerary. Open to any thoughts or advice. Thanks!

June 1-9
Algarve, Portugal

June 9-16
Sevilla
(possible day trip to Cordoba. I have been to Sevilla before and absolutely loved it. Went for 3 days last time, not sure if I'm adding too much time).

June 16-20
Granada

June 20-23
Andalusia's White Towns
(Arcos and/or Ronda)

June 23-25
Tarifa/Morocco

June 26-27
Malaga

Last fall we returned ro Seville for the second time and went to Cordoba again for a day. We were so glad that we visited Cordoba again. The Mosque-Cathedral is incredible. More impressive than we remebered and we enjoyed seeing it more than a sexond trip to the Alhambra in Granada.

I think you need quite a bit more time for Morocco and will have trouble finding things to do on the Algarve for such a long period unless you mainly plan to lie on the beach or play golf. I'd also be willing to steal a couple of days from Seville to allow a real visit to Morocco (which your current schedule doesn't allow for). Your Morocco time shouldn't be spent in Tangier or Casablanca except to the extent necessary for logistical reasons.

I'd be happy to cut the Algarve (and Malaga) down to just transit points and allocate all that time to Morocco. But I don't care for beaches. All those places are going to be hot, though, and Morocco most of all, so the beach time may turn out to be pretty important for you.

Truly, if you can't add enough time to Morocco to allow visits to at least Marrakech and Fes, I'd skip Morocco and head somewhere in Spain or Portugal instead. Ubeda and Baeza sound interesting.

If you haven't bought your Alhambra ticket yet, check availability right away. The Alhambra sells out very early.

Without a car, you won't see much of the white towns. From Sevilla you could spend 2-3 nights in Jerez and day trip to Arcos and to Cadiz. I like Sevilla too, but a full week there is a lot. Think about spending 2-3 nights in Cordoba, which has a lot of sights and is quieter, more "romantic", in the evenings. Ronda has enough sights to fill 2 days if you want to hike the gorge and like quirky little museums.

I also think you'll use up a lot of time getting to/from Tarifa by public transportation. It's pretty much using 3 days for a single day in Tangier, which is not "Morocco." I'd either take 4-5 days from Portugal/Spain and fly to/from Morocco to visit Marrakesh and Fes or drop it from the itinerary.
