I had reservations at a hotel in Old City Barcelona, however I just received word that my room reservation has been canceled due to renovation. I would appreciate recommendations of any great locally-owned smaller hotels in the Old City area that you highly recommend. Doesn't need to be fancy, and prefer charm!

I believe it is not in the Old City but it was very close. Check out BCN Fashion House. It was priced well, the people were great and it was very clean.
The hotel should have rebooked you elsewhere. Sometimes hoteliers hide behind such excuses when they overbook.
Hotel Curious, just off the Ramblas, seems good value and gets great reviews.
