pleasant beach towns btw Granada and Sevilla?

We will be in southern Spain the second week of April, looking for a pleasant and interesting coastal town to stay for a night or two. (On our way from Granada towards Sevilla and the white hill towns). We are traveling with our 6 year old son, we will have a rental car. Not interested in touristy places. Any off the beaten track suggestions and special finds? Thanks. Know of any heated swimming pools this time of year?

The water will be icy cold, which leads me to think that any off the beatn track beach towns would be still be in "winter dormancy." It's also a detour from Granada to the beach and then to the pueblos blancos on the way to Sevilla. If you only have a week and plan to stay in Granada, a hill town and Sevilla, I would not recommend another stop, even with a car. That's a lot of "strapped-in-the-back-seat" car time for a little guy.

I have to agree with Chani. Was along the southern coast in September 2014 and while the water was warm, tourist season was over and most of the small towns had essentially shut down for the season. I imagine April would be much the same since tourist season doesn’t begin until at least mid-May. From Granada go north a few kilometers on the N432, then head west on the A92. It goes very near Antequera that I’ve been told is nice. From there head towards Ronda with a possible short stop in Setenil de las Bodegas. Consider a night in Ronda and use it as the point to begin your tour of the white towns. Since you are driving (a plus in my book), once you know which route you’re going to take, use TripAdvisor and the Internet to research some of the small town along that route. Some have some interesting churches, hermitages or other sights you could miss if you didn’t research the town. Some towns have nothing worth stopping for.
