Thanks a lot.

That sounds like a lot in a very, very short time. I actually did those same places over 3 weeks. In any case, this is the order I followed. I flew into Barcelona and after my stay, I flew to Vienna. From Vienna I took a train to Salzburg. As part of my Salzburg stay, I took a day trip to Munich. From Salzburg, I took a train to Luzern, Switzerland for a 3 day stay and then a train to Lauterbrunnen for a 4 day stay. After a day in Geneva we took a train to Paris and flew home. Depending on where you live you probably could fly home from Zurich, Switzerland. If you want to go from Barcelona to Switzerland I think you are still looking at about a 9 hour train ride (Geneva) or 12(Zurich). Again, I think you'd want to fly for that leg. I used Vueling airlines out of Barcelona and was pleased with the price and the flight, in general.

I really like Barcelona, but Vienna is very nice as well. You might consider dropping Barcelona and splitting your time between Austria (with a day trip to Munich) and Switzerland.

Imo u have too many locations for an 8 day trip. Skip Vienna and Munich.
Eventho your train trips are at night, not much can be seen as a tourist in one day trips.
Barcelona and switzerland are terrific destinations in themselves. Lucerne is a nice base in Switzerland.

For me, travel planning is all about getting value for both your time and money. This suggestion does neither.

What does “travel with my family” mean? You have too punishing a timescale even if you are travelling solo. Pick 2 destinations.

Have you tried night trains? Most can’t sleep on them, so you arrive feeling tired and grouchy.

I would suggest dropping Barcelona or Switzerland.

On the night train: there is a night train connection between Vienna and Munich.

You really need to go back to the drawing board and figure out where you wish to go. With the time allotted, it would be best to travel to a couple of cities that are closer to each other. Your itinerary will not work, Steve.
