Planning Spain in Summer for 15 days

Traveling to Spain this summer for 15 days, with two kids (10/14). We are flying into Madrid and fly out of Barcelona. Need to spend the second half of the trip based out of Barcelona, as one of us has a week of work.

Was planning to do:
- Madrid (3 nights)
- Seville (2 nights)
- Granada (2 nights)
- Alicante (enroute to Barcelona)
and then the week in Barcelona & vicinity

Kids love history/historic places, museums and wife and I would love to get a sense of culture and food while we are at it. Any idea whether this is feasible/realistic? Any thoughts on Valencia? Unlikely to travel to Spain as a family in near future, so trying to balance a meaningful vacation with a good road trip.

Would love some feedback.

Do you know how hot it gets in Madrid, Sevilla and Granada in summer? And how little shade there is when you're sightseeing? Triple-digit temps in these cities are not at all unusual. On the other hand Barcelona/Costa Brava has much more moderate weather, highs usually in the low 80s-mid 90s.

Valencia is definitely a good choice for 3-4 nights. Consider going north to the Pyrenees for the rest. BTW a week in Barcelona is not too much - lots to see and do in the city, plus beaches, and several excellent day trips too.

I would suggest flying Granada - Barcelona.

Start in Madrid (3 nights) - possible day to Toledo
Train to Seville (3 nights) - with a day to Cordoba
Train to Granada (2 nights)
Fly to Barcelona (1 week)
