When I spoke to Rick Steves Consultant she said go on a Tuesday but in the book it says it is the busiest day after Sundays. I am going with my 87 year old mother so important to make as stress free as possible. She may be in wheel chair so less crowds best! Any tips? Tuesday would be a good day for us but now not so sure. Also seems getting tickets on line often does not work?
Thanks for help!

I just checked the site is working; Since you may need a wheel chair you should choose buy the earliest time listed to enter to avoid a wait and to get ahead of the crowds . i doubt you will find a consensus here on the best time not unless its from an employee therefore send an email to the museum directly to perhaps hear what they say.
Guess it depends when (time of year) you will be going. It will be less busy off season. Write the museum directly and ask it which day would be best. It could be as easy as going earlier or later in the day to avoid the crowds.

When exactly are you visiting? Note the museum receives just under 1 million visitors every year. I've gone to the museum many times and the online pre-booking service has always worked... they couldn't manage otherwise with such number of visitors! :))
