Picasso Museum, Barcelona

The museum website allows you to buy advance tickets online and they are priced according to senior citizen, student, etc. However, they also say that to get any discounts you are eligible for, you must pay at the box office and show eligibility. My whole point in buying them online is to skip the line at the box office. The discounts they are talking about...are they something other than the age or student related ones? Maybe large groups?

This means you have to show ID if you have bought a discount ticket online but you do not look like you are a senior or under 18

It seems that some of the places in Spain offer senior discounts IF you are a member of an EU country. I am not sure how to check it
out if it isn't specific. Even greater sympathies to travelers from England.

Most senior discounts in Spain are for anyone over 65. If they are restricted to Spanish citizens or other specific groups, it is stated.

I remember that at the Dali Theatre in Figueres, discounted tickets for individuals were only available at the box office. I bought a Picasso Museum ticket on the spot - I walked by and since there were only a handful of people in line (March), I opted to visit.

Sounds like Chani timed it magnificently. For the mortals among us, the line is only part of the issue at the Picasso Museum. When I visited it in August 2015 (and the city has gotten busier since then), it was a madhouse with people packed shoulder-to-shoulder. It was frustratingly time-consuming to worm your way close enough to the wall to read the description of a painting. I do not recommend the museum to people who are not particular fans of Picasso. Barcelona has a lot of other art museums where one will experience much more pleasant viewing conditions.

When my husband and I visited the museum in October 2017, we went on the "free museum day" with a timed ticket. While the museum was very crowded, most visitors didn't linger over any of the works of art. I loved this museum. I had already visited the Picasso museum in Antibes, saw many of his works at different museums around the globe, but seeing his works chronologically gave me a better understanding of his growth as an artist. If you are a fan of Picasso, this museum is a treat.
