Petit Palace hotels Madrid and ICON BCN Barcelona

I've looked at several hotels, both from the RS book and also from the Forum. I have jointed the tripster club hotel group that has locations all over Spain (on the advice of someone on the Forum).

They have 3 hotels in the central Madrid area, all starting with Petit Palace in their names. I went for the old historic one, Petit Palace Posada Del Piene (evidently the oldest hotel in Madrid). If anyone has any feedback on this selection vs other Petit Palace Hotels in the area, please let me know.

In Barcelona they have a Hotel called ICON BCN. Its a few blocks less central than the Midmost, which I had thought was also a good deal, however the ICON has king sized beds, or so they say. For a 5 night stay this is a major plus, as we really like that bigger mattress (husband is very tall). Again if anyone has anything good or bad about the Icon I'd like to know.

Our reservations are for October 2025 and I payed the extra for cancellation so I have plenty of time to change my mind.

We enjoyed the Petit Palace Arana in Bilbao a couple of years ago. The staff and breakfast were great, and we liked our room, as well. We'll be looking for something in Madrid this October, so I will check out Petit Palaces there. We also joined Tripster, but I didn't think to check out their offerings.

Thanks for the tip. I'll be following this thread. But if the Arana was any indication, the Petit Palace hotels should be fine.

I stayed at Petit Palace Posada Del Piene back in 2019 for a night. The hotel itself was generally fine and it did have a nice breakfast buffet. What I didn’t like about it was the glass wall separating the room and bathroom. If the light was on in the bathroom the entire room lit up. I’m not sure if all the rooms were the same. It is in a good location just off the Plaza Mayor and near the Puerta del Sol.

I stayed at the Petit Palace Gran Via and it was excellent for the price, although the breakfast was very mediocre.

We stayed 5 nights at the Petit Palace Posada Del Peine in November 2023. We were in 2 different rooms and both had the same frosted glass enclosed bathrooms. The shower is a combination power washer/car wash/waterfall. We enjoyed the stay and found the staff to be very friendly. Suggest that you get a room with balcony facing the front.
