My passport will be expired on September 11 2018, will be renew on 03/22/2018 and the plan trip will be on 09/21/2018, will that be ok to travel to Spain?

Thanks!

Of course. Are asking how long it will take to renew? These days, should only be a few weeks.

Yes. Your passport has to be valid for 6 months AFTER you get back, before doesn't matter.

We just did renewals, during the shutdown period. Total time for return of mine was 14 days, and 11 for my wife's. This was after the second submission, originals were sent back 7-10 days later becasue we both forgot to sign! As we live in Philadelphia, this likely saved 2-3 days transit time. You will be fine. Just fill it out online, print and sign it, attach the photo (Walgreen's, e.g., has a passport photo set-up in their processing software). Don't forget to mail it with tracking, and as they process it they will then give you the return tracking information.

Wow what a relief, I was very confuse and don't understand the 6 months. Want to be in Spain for our 25th marriage anniversary which is 09/25/2018.

Thanks!

jo4lop, The rule is that for non-EU/Schengen Area citizens your passport must be valid for 3 months after your planned leaving date (date you return home).
This is the official story from the EU's own website: https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/travel/entry-exit/non-eu-nationals/index_en.htm

Since you are allowed up to 90 days stay in the Schengen Area, some airlines assume you will spend the full 90 days there (even if you plan to spend less time) and won't let you on their planes if you have less than 6 months left on your passport. You should not have this problem on a land border.

There is no limit on how new the passport can be. You can get a new passport and enter the Schengen Area on the same day.
