Passport for Spain

My son booked a trip to go to Spain. He reserved transportation tickets and submitted his passport number when he made them. . He is now unable to go. I am wanting to take the trip not to let it go to waste. Can I present my passport number at the time when I use the transportation tickets made with his passport number

I hate for him to lose all the money he paid up front for the tickets. I would appreciate some advise on this.

Transport tickets are for what type of transportation, flights, trains?

What tickets ???? If it is a plane ticket, then it is a major issue getting the name change. Most airlines will not.; Second, if it is a train ticket, lot less concerning as long as the ticket is valid. We need a few more details before anyone can give some advice.

Generally tickets are non-interchangeable. You cannot just show up and use someone else's airline ticket. If you meant a train ticket, if it is an assigned seat that is probably also not technically inter-changeable. But enforcement of a train ticket might be less, but you'd still run the risk of being denied the seat.

Our experience with train tickets and reserve tickets is that all the conductor wants to see is a valid ticket for the seat numbers. Names mean nothing. We have never been asked to show an id for a train reservation.

Thank you to those who responded.

Where would you be coming from that you would consider going to Spain to use bus and train tickets to 'not lose the money'?

How much is involved in the bus/train tickets to make it worth considering?

Contact the ticket issuer and find out who can use them or what sort of voucher for future travel may be possible?
