Pass through Cordoba, to Granada, OR Seville-Cordoba-Seville?

We planned to travel to Cordoba, from Seville, on our anniversary. Leaving in the morning, spend the day, and then use bus to go to Granada around 5pm. We will arrive in Granada around 8pm, at the hotel 8:30 at the best.

However I'm considering another option, which is, leave the previous day, to Cordoba from Seville, spend the day/evening, then AVE back to Seville. Then next day to Granada (our anniversary day).

I'm doubting the original plan because:
- I'd like to relax on our anniversary day, somehow not having a hotel/place during the day bothers me a bit, too unsettling.
- Plus the change of leaving a place, then do sightseeing for a whole day, and arrive in Granada tired, now seems too much.
- if we leave Cordoba around 5pm, we wouldn't be able to enjoy the roman bridge during sunset, and get a feel Cordoba when things are a bit quiet (read that tourist leave earlier). But is this a consideration enough? Sometimes I'm also afraid 9am - 7pm is too long in Cordoba (without a place to take rest)

Would appreciate thoughtful inputs. Bus and AVE tickets are still available cheaply that price difference are not too much. We will be traveling in Mid November. Thanks!

These concerns are all pretty personal preferences. For me, it's not unusual to be out from my hotel for 12 hours, especially in larger cities. Your day could be filled with exciting plans rather than necessarily relaxing plans. But if I need a place to sit and rest, I can find one. Allowing time for a nice lunch would be one form of a break and perhaps visiting one of the green parks afterward.

Rather than arriving in Granada tired, or returning to Sevilla, still leave Sevilla a day earlier and spend your anniversary evening in Cordoba. As Laura stated, it’s all personal preference.

If you have time, do consider staying at least an overnight in Córdoba, one of my favorite cities in Spain.
There's much more to see and do in this beautiful city than just the magnificent Mezquita!

If you do end up visiting Córdoba, en-route to Granada, you can leave your luggage at the bus station which is located right across the street from the train station.

Enjoy your trip!

I agree with Priscilla about spending at least one night in Cordoba, if not 2 nights. We visited Madrid and Andalucia last September, and Cordoba was one of our favorite cities. There is a lot more to Cordoba than just the amazing Mezquita!
