Paseo del Arte

We are going to Madrid in June/July. We want to purchase the Paseo del Arte pass. I went o the website to select our dates, and it told me the passes were sold out. Does anyone know if maybe the passes aren’t available yet and that’s why it’s saying “sold out,” or if I’m really out of luck? If the passes are sold out, can we still visit the museum, or do they cap the number of tickets? The website wasn’t very explanatory, and we are new to European art museums. Thanks for any help.

And you don't need that pass to go to the museums, though the benefits of it save money and time.

If all else fails, you can get into the Prado and the Reina Sofia for free at certain times: For free admission to the Prado Museum visit Tuesday to Sunday from 6pm to 8pm, or Sundays from 5pm to 8pm. For free admission to the Reina Sofia Museum visit Monday to Friday from 7pm to 9pm, Saturday from 2.30pm to 9pm, or Sunday from 10am to 2.30pm. If, by chance, you are over 65 you can get half price tickets to the Prado, Reina Sofia, and Thyssen Museums. The Museo Sorolla and the Arqueological Museum are free (with proper proof of age...i.e. passport/ or at least a copy of your passport.

What website gave you the message that Paseo del Arte tickets were sold out? You can order them online from any of the three participating museums without specifying a date. They're valid for a year after purchase. After you buy it online, print the receipt and redeem it for the Paseo del Arte ticket(s) at the museum whose website you used to purchase them. I used the Thyssen because I figured it would have the shortest lines.

Thanks to all of you for your input! It has helped a lot! I think I looked at the muse meant.com site.

This is useful information. I've seen different responses to a question of whether the Paseo del Arte pass also has a "skip-the-line" feature. Or, is it already skipping the line because you already have your ticket? One reply said it only allowed line-skipping at the museum where it was purchased, but that was from a pretty old post.
If we plan to pick up an audio guide, is that another line to stand in (if using our museum pass)?
