parking in Granada and Toledo

For a number of reasons, I will have a car in Granada and Toledo. At both places, I am staying in the old part of the city, without parking facilities. Are there any secure parking facilities in either place that would be within a 10 minute taxi ride? Thanks. jtm

Our hotel in Granada directed us to a local parking garage they preferred, that was accessible from the highway, about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. Ask and they will want to help.

Toledo has a large lot across the river, near the train station. Also near the bus station. I parked at one of these, forgot which, and walked in. It’s a long uphill walk. Luckily, since you are near transit stations there will be taxis there.

Granada - there are garages around the outskirts. Can’t recommend a specific one but there are plenty.

[Edit- this is for Granada, should have said!]

There's a big, secure car park on Paseo de Violin which you reach relatively easily from the A44. From the car park, it's about a 10-15 minutes' taxi drive to Plaza Nueva, although I don't know if there is a taxi rank near the car park so you may need to order one.

There are closer ones to the centre, but you then need to drive further into the city which isn't ideal. They'll probably be more expensive too. Here's a map:

For Toledo, the best and most centrally located parking is Parking Indigo - Corralillo de S. Miguel, at the top of the old city, right next to the Alcázar, from there it's all down hill, only 2 min walk from Plaza de Zocodover. It was adjacent to my hotel and have fairly good 24hr rates for its location, a real gem!

4 weeks ago we stayed near Paseo de Violin Granada for a break and parked our car at the Saray hotel car park Granada Just in case anyone considers parking at this hotel, Although this is secure, This I could not recommended. There was a wedding on the Saturday evening and everyone had double parked as there is only a small amount of spaces. The car park has very narrow access to each space. Scraping your car seems almost inevitable. It was quite stressful actually. I thought this was unusual for a 'posh' hotel
I will be finding the large car park noted above instead next time.

There are no secure parking facilities anywhere in the world. Leave nothing visible in your car and determine what your coverage is for theft and damage. All European tourist cities have paid parking structures, some underground, operated by outside contract companies. Spaces and ramps are much narrower than in the US so rent the smallest car you can bear to.
