Friends, my very first visit in Spain will be to the Park Guell in Barcelona, first thing in the morning on Day #1. For those of you who have been there, and maybe taken the tour offered by the park, do you think I would be fine just wandering with the written tour in the RS Barcelona Book, or would there be significant benefit to taking the park's guided tour. I am not so concerned by the additional €7 cost, as much as that I might find a possibly large tour group and its pace limiting. Any of you who might know the tour, what would you advise?
Larry, I really don't think you need the guided tour. It's a lovely place, and you definitely need to buy the entry ticket to the main area, but it's not a place where a tour guide is needed.
Bring sunblock and a bottle of water. The main area has very little shade.
Thanks Emily for your guidance. You win, 1-0, a landslide, so I just bought my ticket, with no tour. If I have any questions about the park and its Gaudi Art, while there, I hope you don't mind if I call you for more information. Please excuse my confusion with time differences, if I happen to awaken you deep in the middle of the night! (:->) ))
Larry - PM me in mid-April to jog my memory and I'll report to you on the Parc Guell. We bought just a timed entry and nothing more.
Thanks Valerie, but I will be there on April 12, also without the tour. Maybe we'll bump into each other on some bench or trail.
We're just missing you...our tickets are for 8am on the 11th. We leave for Venice on the 12th.
We did fine without the tour last year. They gave us a nice map at the entry point.
To those for whom this might matter, the restrooms inside the Monuments ( the area you pay to access) are better than the ones outside.
We didn't need a tour, but do visit his home( additional cost). It is interesting to see how simply he lived, and the view is great.
I hope so much someone will see this and answer quickly. We leave day after tomorrow for Barcelona. We have a 9.00 am entry time ticket for Sagrada Familia on Thursday. Does it make sense to go to Park Guell the same day? and if so, and if we are lucky to still get tickets to go to the park, what time of day would be logical to enter the park?
Thanks so much. I have run out of time to do any more homework for this trip--and need a little advice on this one.
I haven't been yet so I can't speak to the success of my plans, but I have pre-timed entries for Sagrada Famila, Park Guell and MORE for one day next week. So I would imagine you could easily fit two into one day.
@cm... have a read, WED16 http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187497-i44-k7350676-First_Timers_Help_With_5_Day_Itinerary-Barcelona_Catalonia.html#57433425 and this is the route the post mentions: http://bit.ly/DIYroute-pg-sf
