Park Guell entrance

We have Park Güell entrance at 9:30 tickets purchased for our trip in 2 weeks. I think I would like to take the green L3 metro to Lesseps station and then switch to a bus that drops us off at the Carretera del Carmel gate. My question is, can we enter the park through the gate before 9:30 and look around in the forested free area before going to the monument zone area at 9:30? Or do we wait to enter at Carretera del Carmel until 9:30, visit the monument zone, and then walk around in the forested area?

Thanks for any tips!

No, you can't.

From 7 am to 9:30 am and from 8 pm to 10 pm access to the park is reserved exclusively for Barcelona residents.

It’s not like we can’t visit the park at other times, of course. But given the sheer number of visitors Park Güell gets, especially during certain moments during the year, and the fact that it’s a public park, not a private venue, the Ajuntament de Barcelona has set these time slots so locals can actually enjoy it without the crowds. In fact, I often walk my dog there in the evenings… in such a relaxed, peaceful setting ;)

By the way, if you already have your electronic ticket, you can use any of the other entrances to the park. For example, you can also enter via the main gate at Carrer d'Olot, 5, which is not that far from the metro station in Lesseps. You can easily walk -a bit uphill, but nothing too steep.

Well that totally seems fair. It’s a good idea to reserve some times for people who live there without the crazyness that tourists bring!
Thank you Enric. Once again you’ve given clear and concise information.

After we finish at PG we’ll be following your earlier advice of walking to Sagrada Familia for an afternoon there and to finish, walking to Sant Pau to finish out our Gaudi day.
Appreciate your help!

Do you happen to be in Barcelona -or elsewhere in Catalonia- on April 23rd?

I’m afraid we’ll be in Madrid by the 23rd. Probably missing something great, right?
We arrive Barcelona, Tuesday 4/14 (late) and leave Sunday morning, 4/19, for Riaño at 9am.

Enric, would you. have any restaurant recommendations for our Park Guell, Sagrada Familia, Sant Pau day? We’ll be out all day so will welcome good food and breaks.

YES!, you are missing one of the most important days of the calendar here in Catalonia: Sant Jordi. It's a very special day for us Catalans. Not only is our Valentine's but also the patron of Catalonia. But what can you do, you're in Madrid that day.

Still, if you stop by the office of the Generalitat de Catalunya (the government of Catalonia) in Madrid -sort of our embassy there- small stalls are set up every year so that people in Madrid can get to know about this Catalan tradition. While it's nothing like the celebration in Catalonia, you can have a "taste" of it, if you like. The address is calle Alcalá, 44

I hope I don't come across rude or unwilling to help, but I hardly ever recommend any restaurant.

Eating out is a highly personal experience shaped by individual preferences—food, ambience, service, price, or a mix of these—which can vary depending on mood. In a fast-changing city like Barcelona, where restaurants frequently open, close, or fluctuate in quality, giving recommendations is risky, especially for visitors who have limited chances to get it right.

For these reasons, I'm happy to point you to a few reputable websites that do recommend restaurants but I would prefer you do choose for yourselves:

Hoping you'll understand my stand, warm regards.

Of course I understand about restaurant recommendations. I think I’ve found a Catalan restaurant on Sardenya that we would be on the way to Sagrada Familia.

When we’re in Madrid we’ll be sure to check out a Sant Jordi display. Thanks for the tip!
