Park Guell

I'm leaving for Barcelona on Monday and I'm in the process of making my advance reservations. I just booked Sagrada Familia for Wednesday morning and I was wondering what your advice would be about time of day for Park Guell. Have any of you found it to be better in the morning vs. afternoon vs. evening? All the time slots are pretty open for next week so I have my choice but I was wondering if the views were better during the day versus in the evening. Also, I'm assuming that it gets pretty slammed during late morning and afternoon times.

Thanks for your advice!!

I have been there perhaps a half dozen times, and many different hours of the day. Being maximum daylight at the moment I would say 6-7pm. In Winter no later than 3pm. Spring/Autumn between 4-5pm.

I agree with dip and we've only been once- a month ago. Our entry time was 13:00. Park Guell itself absorbed the crowd, but the surrounding greater park area was quite busy. They did make us wait for our entry time, so that helps to manage the crowd. Also, the WC inside Park Guell is a better bet than the ones outside the upper gates.

The area that gets crowded is right around the entrance, the further you get from there the less crowd you will experience. I'd go in the morning before the crowds unless the weather makes more sense to visit later in the day.

FYI - The view back to the city is east, so an afternoon or early evening visit would allow for better views and photos of the city itself.

No worries Patty. What a sweet sentiment. All the best to you, across the hemisphere in Washington state, from way down here on the other side of the Pacific.
