Parador De Cardona

Has anyone stayed at the Parador de Cardona? Would you recommend? Is it worth paying for the bed and breakfast option when booking my room for the breakfast buffet?

I haven’t stayed at that one, but I recommend them. I have reservations at 9 of them for later this year. Paradors have extensive breakfast buffets and very much worth the price, if for no other reason than convenience. The cheeses and meats on the buffet are regional, so they are different at every parador. The Parador at Cardona looks like it’s in a castle up on a hill away from town, so going someplace for breakfast other than the Parador might be quite a hike. If you’re not an Amigo, I suggest you join the free program and reserve through its website since it does have special prices for Amigos not displayed if just going to the site. It also has special prices for those over 55 if you’re over 55, and for multiple night stays. In addition, you should receive a free breakfast for you and a guest the first time you reserve through the website. That’s the way it was a few years ago. You’ll also get a complimentary beverage (side, beer, wine) each time you check into a Parador. www.parador.es/en

If you have any questions, send me a PM. On the website there’s also a live chat feature if you have questions.

Just generally, I love the paradores we've stayed in - Segovia and Cuenca. Never disappointed. We plan to stay in more. They are not the most inexpensive places to stay, but neither are they the most expensive. The atmosphere is very elegant, the people who work there are very friendly and the food is terrific. The views and the rooms at both paradores were incomparable.

Pricing at Paradors varies based on time of year, room type, number of nights you’re staying there, and possibly your age. For example, for the room we reserved, the Parador at Alcala de Henares was twice as expensive in mid-September as it was in mid-October, whereas the one in Siguenza was just the opposite. We’ve stayed at about 12 so far and my wife’s goal is to stay at all of them, but I doubt that will happen.
