I am traveling from Madrid to Pamplona during the San Fermin Festival. My first question is does anyone know when train tickets become available? My second question is if there is a way to watch the running of the bulls without paying a lot for a balcony? Unfortunately, the price of a balcony does not fit into my budget. Thank you all for your help.
Regarding your second answer, the running of the bulls takes place daily at 0800am, and it normally lasts less than 5 min. The itinerary (which is uphill, to the surprise of many) is protected by wooden fences, if you arrive very early you should be able to get a viewing place from behind the fence, as most people do. Also, it´d broadcasted live on TV...you miss the atmosphere, but it´s a great way to see the whole running of the bulls (which, by the way, is also done in other parts of Spain...although the Pamplona-Iruña one is the most well known).
Thank you for the information about being able to stand behind fences along the route.
Now, I just have to figure out when train tickets go on sell.
