If I am going to see and hear a musical performance at the Palau de la Musica Catalana is also taking the tour of the building also worthwhile? Has anyone here done both?
Ron, I did both in early April, and both experiences were great. I purposefully scheduled my tour a couple of days before the performance. By the way, the attractive Palau cafe has good food and beverages at very good prices.
If you're especially interested in modernisme or Gaudi then the tour is necessary to get another perspective. Friends who do photography loved the tour and also the dining.
I opted just for the guitar concert, which allows early entry so you can wander around before taking your seats. The guitar concert is a little bit de-fanged, a little like a pops concert without the Vivaldi :-) but still enjoyable.
The hall didn't, frankly, impress me as much as the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires or the Palacio de Buenas Artes in Mexico City.
Now those are impressive. I'm a new world chauvinist, though, so maybe I see through prejudiced eyes.
I did both and was glad. Took the tour on the same day as the performance. The tour is only one hour. Enjoy!

Thanks Larry for noticing... I don't quite understand how I could mix them up..... ! :)))
It's imperative to notice the architect of this gem is not Gaudí but another equally prolific contemporary, Lluís Domènec i Montaner, and its architectural style, while both encompassed in the Modernist movement, is quite different from the first. Domènec i Montaner is also known by several other famous buildings, like Casa Lleó i Morera -located close to Casa Batlló, in the same side of Passeig de Gràcia boulevard, just a few dozen metres from the later- as well as Casa Fuster, these days a famous 5* hotel.
For curious, here a peek on Palau de la Música Catalana and on Casa Lleó i Morera.
