Off the beaten path outing from Seville

I have one day during a 4 night stay in Seville coming up in a few weeks that I’d like to plan a day trip for. We will have been in Cordoba prior to arriving in Seville, so that will have been done. We will have a rental car, but don’t want to spend too many hours in the car getting to our destination.

Original plan was to spend the day in Cadiz, but would love any other maybe less traditional suggestions. We love finding off the beaten track places. Is there some other place you’d recommend? Maybe a stop along the way from Seville to Cadiz?

Really we are open to anything - Something to make this day just a bit different than the others.

Zafra is an hour or so from Sevilla. You could drive to it and Jerez de los Caballeros. There are also a couple castles in that area if you like castles. Both towns are on few tourists radar.

From Sevilla to Cadiz, your best bet is a detour to Sanlucar de Barrameda. Lively town with good seafood restaurants on the water, and good tapas in the center.

You could also go to Jabugo, for the jamon; you could take a tour there to see the process of curing the Jabugo hams. That's a little more than one hour from Sevilla.

Aracena îș is also known for black label jamones..they have a museum of jamon.

Carmona is worth considering. But it is in the opposite direction to Cadiz. If you did choose Carmona it is only 30 minutes drives and you might consider adding Cazalla de la Sierra. That is definitely off the beaten path but worth a few hours and the surrounding national park is very attractive.

Having written all that, I really like Cadiz. Not all do, but for me it is a must see. And, if you don't have time to stay for a few days, is still certainly worth at least a day-trip.
