Our experience in Spain

Hello Fellow Travelers:
My husband and I took Spain My Way in May 2022. Most enjoyable.
Contemplated using this Forum to send a message about the mistakes we made traveling abroad. Hoping it might help to make it easier for our fellow travelers.
First of all, get an international plan that includes data through your cell phone carrier. Most everywhere we went, restaurants, tours, etc. displayed the QR code. To access a menu in English, access the audio for unguided tours, and more.
There was so much conversation about getting tested for Covid before returning to the USA. But, nothing was said about an attestation form needed along with the negative Covid test.
Our flight out of Sevilla was with Iberia Airlines, and their website was not working properly the night before to check-in, so upon our
arrival at the airport, we needed to scan the QR code to sign the attestation form. The airport Wi-Fi was not working, and we could not access the form with our iPhones. Speaking the language is helpful because trying to explain what we needed was difficult.
Finally, after tracking down an English-speaking employee, he printed out two forms for us to sign.
Other than that, our experience in Spain with RS Tour was great.

Thanks for the report. Love more detail on tour at some point.

Was your flight from Seville direct to the USA?

You’re the first person I’ve read about having to fill out the paper attestation. For my flight tomorrow, I signed the form digitally from United’s travel ready center just prior to checking in online. Ditto for my UK trip earlier this year with British Airways. I am surprised that RS tour people didn’t inform you of the attestation since it’s been a requirement for a while now.

We went to Ireland in September 2021 and Spain in April/May 2022. Both times we had to do the paper attestation because their Fly Ready thing wasn't working.

Yes, Jaime & Patricia, that’s what I think rleyva is saying…. It was a technical issue that caused problems accessing availability to complete the attestation form. And a paper version is always a good backup to your phone or tablet. I’m flying Iberia in 9 days to Lisbon and then to depart from Madrid at the end of the month. Thank you for the helpful information

This thread is the first I've heard of an attestation form. We're going to Spain this fall - what will we be attesting to?

You’re just saying you had a negative Covid test and meet the requirements to enter the U.S. It’s silly because you have to upload your negative test results if you want to check-in online.

“ The U.S. government requires all passengers flying to the U.S. - 2 years and older - to complete the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) attestation form confirming they meet entry requirements. If you're a non-U.S. citizen you must also have proof of vaccination against COVID-19 to fly, unless you qualify for an exception.”

@catherine.mccarty029 - the attestation is required by the US government. When I flew home on TAP a few weeks ago, they were handing out hard copies for passengers to complete and sign before boarding along with proof of a negative Covid test. The form has other options other than the test, but as it did not apply to me, I only completed the parts applicable to me.

Hello Fellow Travelers:
Wow! Surprised to get so many responses to my post.
Our flight out of Seville connected to Madrid. As an inexperienced traveler to Europe, I did all the homework (forms) needed to enter Spain (SPTH). Unfortunately, I failed to research the requirements needed to enter the USA, other than the negative COVD test.
What a mistake! As one responder mentioned, yes the CDC required the "Passenger Disclosure and Attestation to the USA".
It's a simple form and only took a few minutes to fill out. Without an international plan with our carrier, and no Wi-Fi working in the airport we could not access the form.
This is pretty funny, but I remember reading a sign as I was EXITING the airport which stated - something to the effect of - Upon entering the USA, all passengers need to fill out the required documents. Why, when exiting rather than entering?
Please be diligent about wearing your masks in large crowds. Our tour guide and 6 other travelers in our group tested positive for COVID and were unable to complete the tour.

Shoot! 6 on the tour + your guide tested positive on tour? I will admit I was hoping the My Way tours would be less likely to be hit with Covid cases, since the only shared tour activity is the bus ride. Was everyone diligent on the bus?

Last summer I flew to the US on Turkish Air with a plane change in Istanbul. When I checked in the agent told me I'd need the attestation form to enter the US and gave me a website. I tried various options for half an hour but the only possibility was a printable form. I went back and talked to a supervisor who had a few printed forms and gave me one. That was the last time anyone mentioned it, not in Tel Aviv, not in Turkey and not in the US.

re: Attestation Form.
It would seem to me to make sense to take along a hard/printed copy to expedite the check-in process. Last April, I too had a problem accessing the Attestation form in Sevilla and the agent gave me a printed copy to sign.
@mln - thank you for the link.

Is it possible to print this attestation form before you leave the US and take it with you to sign before you fly back to the US? Does anyone have the link?
Thanks.
