I'm booked at this hotel in Oct. Has anyone stayed there? Any info would be greatly appreciated! It is supposed to be very accessible to many of the popular sites in Madrid
It’s very close to Retiro Park, the Prado, and Rena Sofía museums. Also fairly close are the Alcalá gate, Plaza de Cibeles, and Fuente de Neptuno. The Plaza Mayor and Puerta Del Sol are about a 15 minutes walk from it with the Royal Palace another 10 minutes. It is of course across the street from the train station making it easy if taking a day trip to Toledo or someplace else.
I know nothing of the hotel itself.
We’ve stayed there, and I recommend it. It was quite a few years ago, pre-covid; but as I recall, the room was very nice, and the service, outstanding. We had a light meal in the restaurant; and, that, too, was very good.
My husband and I stayed there last September. It was very nice and it was super convenient to be next to the Atocha station. I would stay there again. Learn from our mistakes and skip the pricey rooftop breakfast.
Thanks everyone who replied! This makes me happy to know I made a great choice! I'll skip the rooftop breakfast 😆
I stayed in the Hotel Mora just a bit closer to the Prado, and
I will say it was the perfect area to see all three big museums, and walk around Madrid.
There are tons of cafe/bars nearby , in the little streets , to get breakfast in….try the potato/egg dish called tortilla, found everywhere.
Madrid is a lovely city, though I found it chilly, as I was also there in October, and needed all my layers!
It’s quite high up in elevation.
Thanks!!!! I'll definitely try the potatoe egg dish for breakfast! I'm bringing a few jackets too
A “few” jackets!?
Just bring a packable puffy one, and a rain jacket that will fit over it.
Then you have 3 different outfits depending on the weather!
