One week in Andalucia in July

Hi there,

We have 7 full days, landing in Malaga the night before day one, leaving from Seville the morning after day seven. Would we be crazy to try to go to somewhere else as well as Granada, Cordoba, Seville in that time? If not, would either Cadiz or Ronda be a better option? (Or somewhere smaller, I've heard both Olvera and Alhama de Granada recommended).

If not - just sticking to the first three cities - I was thinking of the following.

Day 0 - Land in Malaga 23.30
Day 1 - Malaga, Granada
Day 2 - Granada (Alhambra)
Day 3 - Granada, Cordoba
Day 4 - Cordoba (Mezquita)
Day 5 - Cordoba, Seville
Day 6 - Seville
Day 7 - Seville
Day 8 - Leave (morning)

Oh, and we will be using public transport, not renting a car. Any advice appreciated!

First, respect the sweltering heat you shall encounter. Start hydrating the day prior to arriving in Malaga. Of all that I write, this is the most important issue.
Second, immediately adjust your schedules to take advantage of the late evening for having your meals and finding entertainment options. While you will strive to max your time esch day it is quite wise to nap during the heat of the day.
Three, purchase NOW your tickets for alhambra. It will be jammed packed and there are few opportunities to purchase drink and food within the grounds.
Fourth, your trip itinerary is doable, but given the heat and crowds I would recommend slowing down.

Perhaps the following:
Malaga (which is my home base) to Granada
Granada to seville where you have the option for two day trips: either to cordoba or ronda.
Five, hotels...... Ask for interior rooms facing a courtyard as you are likely to find less noise and potential of a cooler room.

Like Marbleskies, my first thought was heat. The payphone outside the Alhambra 12 years ago seemed to be the hottest place on Earth at the moment -- and that was in June!

Will you have a rental car for visiting pueblos blancos? We stayed in Arcos de la Frontera, but Grazalema should be visited, too. Ronda is one of Rick Steves' "back doors," if you can make the time for a visit. Parking a car in Seville is expensive and kind of a hassle, but the city is fantastic.
