One more (hopefully last) question about Mallorca...

We are planning on being in Mallorca the beginning of October. I see that it rains fairly frequently during October. Would it be worthwhile to go at that time?

These are always impossible questions to answer. Sure, it rains nearly everywhere. Will it rain more in Oct -- maybe. Will it rain continuously -- NO. You prepare for rain and go. It could be an unusual dry fall or an unusual wet -- who knows?

We travel to Mallorca pretty much every year, sometimes twice and many times during October half term (typically the last week in October). I'm struggling to recall a day that we had rain. The southern side of Mallorca offers better chances of good weather as the Tramuntana mountains keep much of the bad weather at bay. It's definitely still beach and pool weather at that time and the temperatures are much more conducive to exploring on foot.

Looking at historical records, during October 2016 there was one day of rain, in October 2017 the whole month was sunny and in October last year there was no rain but 8 days of cloud. Where did you see that it rains frequently in October?

It depends on the year. April and Sept/Oct are the "typical" rainy season in the Western Mediterranean, but again, rain over here has nothing to do with tropical rains, meaning that yes, it might rain for a while or even a full day, but then next day the sun shines again.

Thank you all! I feel better about planning, now! If you look at the weather sites, they all say that it rains the most in October - in Mallorca and also the mainland . So...we are going to take our chances and enjoy it - no matter what!

But what does "most" equate to? Mallorca is a very dry island so if rainfall averages three days a month and in October it is 6 days in a month then October is going to experience the most rain on average, however 6 days in one month is very little. My experience is that April is rainier than October. It is such an inconsequential occurence that it really isn't worth worrying about.
