I am looking at staying in Spain for 1 month with my wife and three kids ages 2-10 next year. Our hope is to find one place for about one month in the summer (June/July) to live during the week to take side trips on the weekends. Due to the length of time, we are leaning towards Barcelona to ensure we have enough to keep the kids busy for the tenure of the stay and ease of transport to other regions/countries, but we are admittedly not “city” people. I would welcome any thoughts or suggestions for other areas to consider.
I think Barcelona is an excellent choice. As a large city it has lots of activities to interest the kids as well as you. Although heat in combination with humidity is a possibility, you shouldn't have the relentless heat you'd encounter in Andalucia and (to a somewhat lesser degree) in Madrid. As someone who takes a lot of day trips, I really value staying in places with good train and bus connections.
Thank you for the reply!
Barcelona has a huge menu of opportunities to select and a wonderful public transportation system. Recommend taking a deep dive into selecting apartments away form the main tourist zone. I am hoping some of our Spanish, wait..........apologies.....................Catalonian posters who reside in Barcelona will assist you.
I am hoping Enric or Bill Sinclair will post for you.
Thanks for the reply! So far I am getting Barcelona as a good option. I plan to order a guidebook to get a better feel for neighborhoods, but would also take suggestions from this familiar with the area. Thank you again!
Fantastic…thank you so much for the feedback Bill!
