One full month in Seville

My husband and I are going last week in Feb and first three in March. We may do overnight trips but for the first time ever want a nice relaxing time. We do not speak any Spanish so we figured there would be more English spoken within the historic area in Seville. Does anyone have a good suggestion for month long apartment. I noticed so many do not have an oven or dryer. These are conveniences we can live without but they would be nice to have. Thank you everyone. This is such a great site.

People say that the sort of dryers often found in European apartments do not work particularly well; they have limited capacity and are very slow. Not having a dryer may not be as big an issue as you might imagine.

yes I can manage without it. I am more concerned about finding a place for a month long stay that is comfortable

Apartamentos living Seville has several apartments that are well located and have full amenities including dryers (at least ours did). We stayed in Apartamentos living Sevilla Centro Maestranza. The price was very reasonable.

I just spent 5 nights in Seville. Everyone in the historic center did not speak English, so make sure you learn some basics. It's just good manners too 🙂

Mary is right, I think in Spain many foreigners are shocked by how few of us speak English, you can't take it for granted that people living in the old part of town in Spain will naturally speak English. Spain has one of the lowest levels of English proficiency of any country in the EU. I think with some basic Spanish, the help of a translator app like Google translate, and just intuitive gestures you will be fine. I don't think as a tourist you'll need to be worrying about if you can communicate astrophysics to us locals lol!

I love long, slow stays. But I would advise against staying in the heart of the historic center. (not just in Sevilla, but anywhere, really.) First, as Mary mentioned, it's not going to make much difference in access to English speakers, and making even small connections despite a language barrier is one of travel's delights. Second, it would be less convenient for daily living, without decent groceries and services. Lastly, for me, a big motivator for longer visits is to stay among locals, and through that, tap into a little understanding of what life is like for people in different places and cultures. If you stay in the touristic center, you'll get to know the patterns, the ebbs and flows, of the tourist traffic, but have a harder time connecting to local life.

In Sevilla, I'd recommend looking at the Triana neighborhood or around/to the north of Las Setas.

Ovens aren't super common in regular, day-to-day Spanish home cooking so they can be seen as optional/extra, but they shouldn't be too hard to find in apartments. Driers barely exist in most of Spain. (They are less rare in the wet Northern coastal regions.)

Thanks to Hudson Valley. I forgot to mention I have a pretty bad back (who doesnt) and not great on long walks. Triana was quite a walk last time I was there. We stayed at the Hotel Amadeus. Open to any and all suggestions

A month in Seville. What a wonderful way to enjoy Seville. We stay approximately six weeks every year and love it so much we fly all the way from New Zealand. We travel in February, March. It seems we will be there the same time as you next year.

Triana is a bit far for us as well. I also have a bad back. Other than that, yes a lovely area. The Triana market is excellent.

We've stayed in over 15 Airbnb's in Seville. We find the quality of Airbnb's in Seville some of the best. They have all been central, with lifts if required. The majority of t Airbnb's have washing machines, but no drier. Some have ovens, but mostly not. If noise is a bother to you I suggest a top floor. Given the age of some apartments there can be excessive noise from above. But that depends how noise sensitive you are. We also avoid bedrooms with balconies over streets unless they are double glazed. A month is a long time in an apartment, comfort is probably paramount

I speak Spanish but could easily get by without. After a month in Seville you’ll be speaking like a pro.

Enjoy

We are staying for three weeks in Seville during December. We rented an apartment on AirBnb but through Genteel Homes. They have been very responsive, and there are many reviews on all of their apartments on AirBnb and on their own website:
