One day to Girona with kids

Hi All,

We are planning a day trip from Barcelona to Girona in June (end of June).

We have 2 kids (8 and 10). We are planning to take the train. Once off the train station, how do we go to the city? What should we plan on doing/seeing once there? Only thing so far I have planned is to walk the wall. Any GOT sights to visit (am a big GOT fan)? Is the city walkable? Any chance we could visit any coastal towns on the same day via train or any other means of public transport?

Thank you all in advance, I look forward to some helpful responses.

Thank you Enric, I posted in two forums as you never know the audience/users in each one, it could be very much different and it is best to get perspective from separate set of people:-)

Totally right Pat, audiences in RS and at TA are very different.

Btw, re GOT... you might like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICa7LKPUVOw ... and if any of you came during Temps de Flors -the flower festival every year in May in Girona- I wonder if you saw this homage from the city to GOT... http://www.lostandabroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0251.jpg

And taking the opportunity... Temps de Flors is a festival worth visiting, trust me!... Temps de Flors is an ode to spring arrival, for 10 days in May, Girona’s historical buildings, courtyards and gardens are adorned with floral arrangements and art installations with a programme of cultural events, fine dining and commercial activities: http://infocatalonia.eu/w/RH9Gv and for more details http://www.gironatempsdeflors.net/cat/inici.php

As a complete non fan of fantasy/sci fi I simply don't GET GOT. In fact every time I see GOT, I have to remind myself what it stands for. And when I see references to George Martin, I have to remind myself that it's not the genius producer of The Beatles music that they are referring to.
So I hope your Girona decision, is not purely because you have got to get to got locations, but on the hundreds of years of actual history that precede its GOT moment.
