One day in Palma de Mallorca w/ kids?

Will be in Palma on a Monday in August with 4 kids (ages 9-16) on a cruise stop from 800 to 1600. Debating between the Drach Caves, Soller Train, or just walking around Palma and possibly going to the beach. We have seen that the "best" thing to look at in Palma is the Cathedral but by this point, I think my children will have seen enough cathedrals :) Could someone give me insight on these ideas for kids? Are Drach Caves a waste of time? I've seen mixed reviews... Are there any good beaches in Palma or close by? Will the train to Soller be boring? How long is the journey?

Thank you in advance!

The Drach Caves are a waste of time in my opinion. The caves, whilst interesting are not given sufficient time by your guide, instead you are rushed through to the bottom of the cave to an amphitheatre beside an underground lake where you will eventually be serenaded by a string quartet passing by in a boat. It's over in a couple of minutes and is very underwhelming, even more so if you're in one of the first few groups who will have to wait sat down for about forty minutes whilst the amphitheatre fills up.

Stick to Palma. Enjoy the cathedral, the Castell de Bellver and the ancient winding streets full of shopping, galleries, ice cream vendors before spending some time on the beach.

We were there once in 2014 off of a cruise. The port is about a half hour walk into the main part of town, it's an easy and pretty walk, but at that time there was also a few bicycle rental shops near the ship. Just a thought to rent bikes for the day and ride into town.
