Olive oil tour-Barcelona area

There aren´t any olive oil producers in the province of Barcelona, to my knowledge. You need to get to the neighboring provinces of Tarragona and Lleida, where the olive oil producers are concentrated.

Our white villages bus trip from Seville included an olive oil distillery. It was not exciting. We looked at olive trees, we looked at olive presses, we dipped pieces of bread in olive oil, they tried to sell us olive oil. Unless you have an abiding interest in agricultural production or it includes a gourmet lunch I would not go out of my way to do an olive oil tour.

There are a few small, high-quality olive oil producers in the province of Barcelona. You can find some in the Penedes, mostly famous for wine. My suggestion would however be to visit the Bages region, north of the Montserrat mountain range. There, you'll find several small, high-quality producers.
