Hi
Can anyone recommend a good olive oil farm/production facility that is near Madrid? Looking for a half day tour.
Thanks
The place that stood out as a major olive oil producer was down in Baeza. They must have been either burning olive wood or cooking olive oil because the place was smoky and smelled very strongly of olive oil.
In that area there are miles and miles of hills covered with olive trees.
I was absolutely amazed at the number of olive trees growing in the areas of Spain I visited (Madrid to Sevilla to Granada to Cordoba to Madrid). We felt like we were seeing just miles and miles of olive trees. Would love to know more about how they are harvested and how many olives go into a liter of olive oil, etc. I hope you find a good tour and report back. It sounds like it'd be a fun excursion.
