October 3 weeks in Spain / Portugal

Using past advice from here the new plan is fly to Madrid (5) days. Train to Córdoba (3) then Granada (2) then Ronda (2) and finally Sevilla (4). Fly to Porto (3) and train to Lisbon (4).
Fly in to Madrid and out of Lisbon.
Thank you

Hi Dave,

I took a similar Spain/Portugal trip in 2018 and the itinerary i used to travel is as follows:

Fly into Madrid:
Madrid - 4 Days
Train from Madrid to Cordoba

Cordoba - 3 Days
Train from Cordoba to Granada

Granada - 2 Days
Train from Granada to Ronda

Ronda - 2 Days
Bus or Train from Ronda to Sevilla (Bus is most economical)

Sevilla - 3 Days
Fly from Sevilla to Porto
Flight duration: 1hr 15m

Porto - 2 Days
Train from Porto to Lisbon

Lisbon - 4 Days
Fly home from Lisbon

I would add an extra day in Sevilla because there is so much to see there.
So 4 days in Sevilla and also do Porto for 3 days.

Let me know what you think Dave? I arranged the visits of Cordoba >> Granada >>Ronda for logistical reasons. If you looked at a map of Andalusia it makes sense to go in that order.

Take care Dave,
RJean

I would spend all your time in Spain, save Portugal for another trip where you can spend more time there.

Add Barcelona and do Segovia on day trip from Madrid.

Portugal, when you do it, yes, four days in Lisbon, but you need to include Evora, Sintra, Cascais as well as some days in the Douro River Valley. Take the train from Porto up to Pinhao, the tracks run along the north bank of the river. It is the most scenic river valley in Europe.

One country.
We really enjoyed both; 2017 Portugal, 2018: España.
Don’t waste your life in transit.

We like the act of traveling and just moving and seeing. If we want to do or see something specific we make time for it. Some people can spend days in a museum and I don’t even want to go inside most. I’ll spend hours people watching or walking around a market. Even with good intentions we never get back to places so we try to see as much as we can when we can.
