Obligatory Tentative Spain Itinerary - 13 Days Full Days on the Ground

Hello all! I am looking at 14 full days on the ground in Spain (so will not include travel/flights, but once we have landed and excluding when we leave). I would be flying into Madrid and out of Barcelona.

Day 1-3 - Madrid (3 Full Days)

Day 4 - Madrid to Seville

Day 5-6 - Seville (2 Full Days)

Day 7 - Seville to Cordova (Day Trip!) THEN to Granada

Day 8-9 - Granada (2 Full Days)

Day 10 - Granada to Barcelona

Day 11-13 - Barcelona (3 Full Days)

I apologize if this was tedious to read/look through. I emphasize full days as the others are travel/getting to the next. From what I've read, this seems to be ideal in terms of how much time to spend per city. My spouse and I have done something similar in other areas/countries, so we do not mind the quicker pace or jumping from spot to spot in order to be able to see more of Spain.

But. If it makes sense to remove a spot and spend longer in one area, like Seville or Granada, then we are open to that. Interested in any thoughts and always grateful for this sub, as it helped me make my Italy trip amazing!

I do not think your itinerary is too ambitious for two weeks, but it is really not clear how you are traveling between locations (trains? rental car?). Yes, you will have more flexibility with a car, but you will have to negotiate all the roads and may become tired driving with longer distances (Granada to Barcelona). You also have to check out parking requirements. If you take the trains, you need to confirm all the scheduled times to integrate them with your travel plans.

By the way, the name of the city is Córdoba.

Next, what is it exactly that you want to see and do in each of these cities? Do you like historical sites, museums, nature, castles, culture, food? You have also not mentioned what time of year you are traveling, which can impact availability of activities. The cities you have chosen are very popular and famous tourist destinations. Do you plan to stay in hotels? You might want to start checking out prices to create your budget. Your food and entry costs should not be too expensive overall as compared to some other countries.

If you are traveling from Hawaii, you will have a very long flight time, and you may have a bit of jet lag the first day (or more), which can affect your sightseeing.

My major recommendation would be to try to squeeze in a trip to Toledo and/or Segovia while you are in Madrid. Madrid is a lovely city, but very modern, large, and cosmopolitan. It is interesting to visit the old medieval cities to get a different perspective of architecture and history.

Don't forget to go out for tapas dining, see a flamenco show, visit the Prado museum, make reservations in advance for Gaudí attractions in Barcelona as well as the Alhambra in Granada, have a chocolate and churros breakfast, tour a castle or a royal palace, see Columbus' tomb in Sevilla, and practice some español!

Have a wonderful time planning, and a great trip!
