We're looking for a locals venue Flamenco (no theatre, or Spanish "Wayne Newton" Vegas-type show), a place with alcohol, tapas, local folks. Any ideas ?
In Granada we went to Le Chien Andalou linky. It's a local bar with its flamenco cave downstairs. It had alcohol, full menu and seemed to have local clientele. The food was good but I only ordered appetizers and I was really, really hungry. I emailed them for a seat up front.
I found this article with some specific recommendations for Madrid, including Flamenco:

If you go to any Flamenco in Madrid, please post a review here!
We saw a Flamenco performance in Madrid and it was great! By the end all the performers were sweating and tired. We found the place by wandering around. There were several choices and we picked the one that was convenient and looked inviting. It was in a touristy area but we were the only Americans in the place.
