Night train from Marrakech to Tangier, getting around Tangier

Hello fellow travellers!

My title is a mouthful but, I do need some help.

I am travelling on the night train from Marrakech to Tangier, which I believe will drop me off in town at 7am on May 26th. Then I have to figure out how to get to the ferry port, to catch a ferry to Algeciras that's leaving around 10am. Does anyone know how far this is? Am I ok with a taxi?

I will be travelling with my suitcase and two other ladies will have luggage. However, we were wondering if anyone was familiar with any cafe that happens to be close to the port?

Thank you in advance!

I know that flying was discussed on your earlier thread. Did that not work out?

Are you sure you want a ferry to Algeciras, departing from Tanger Med/Mediterranean Port, which is well outside the city? A ferry to Tarifa from Tanger Ville/Old Port would be an easier connection. Then, if you still need to get to Algeciras, you can take a 30-minute bus ride on the Spanish side.

Trains generally go to/from Tanger Ville station, which is about a 3 km taxi ride to Tanger Ville/Old Port.

Hello,

We are flying from Seville down to Marrakech. Then we're planning to take the night train to Tangier. We already purchased our tickets for the ferry over to Algeciras.

We're having problems purchasing tickets from Morocco's railway ONCF system's website. I just read on another site, that you can't purchase tickets outside the country. Are you aware of this?

Well, now I know that we have to take a taxi to the ferry in Tangier, thank you.

I would not worry about booking the night train ahead. You could buy it at a travel agency when you arrive. (A dozen years ago, we purchased overnight tickets the same day and there were very few people in the first class couchettes.) Allow an hour for the taxi to Port Tanger Med ($55-70 per Rome2Rio). There's also supposedly a train from Tanger Ville to Port Tanger Med rail station, but I can't tell whether the connection timing works.

Or scrap your ferry ticket, which I assume cost only $25 per person.
