Night train from Barcelona to Granada or Seville

We are traveling from Barcelona to Granada. Is here a night train and how much does it cost?

Ednaann,

Presently there is no night train available from Barcelona to Granada.

You may check train schedules here:http://www.renfe.com

You may book your train tickets up to 62 days in advance at considerable savings.

Edit to add...

You can certainly travel to Granada &/or Sevilla from Barcelona via train.

Are you planning to visit Madrid? If so, you can travel to Madrid, then on to Sevilla &/or Granada from there.

There is little likelihood that any night train will run every again except that between in Madrid and Lisbon.

In the past, overnight regular trains existed between major cities because they took many hours to cover long distances. With the advent of high-speed trains in the Spanish (and European) rail networks, this is now a thing of the past. Now you can travel Barcelona-Paris in under 7h, or Barcelona-Madrid in under 3h, and so on. So these days, Barcelona-Granada is served by a daytime high-speed train.

Well...Unfortunately, this is only partly true.

Due to railway work renovations around Granada (presently), the journey from Barcelona to Granada will be via an AVE-MD train combination or an AVE-Bus combination. In either case, your journey will be via AVE (high speed) train from Barcelona to Antequera Santa Ana (train station), where you will transfer to a MD (Medium Distance) train, or a bus, which will take you the rest of the way to Granada's train station.

Once Renfe completes the railway renovations, there will be a direct AVE train traveling Barcellona < > Granada.

Don't forget to book your Alhambra tickets way in advance ;-)

Yes, sorry, I just was making the point that there are no night trains :)).... but indeed the last stretch of the journey is now made by bus until the renovations are finished -but that's temporary.

Enric,

I know you knew that... I just wanted to make Ednaann aware.

BTW, this renovation has been going on since April 2015, do you know why it's taking so long?

Do you mean from Madrid to Granada?

Since the railway renovations are around Granada, the last leg of the journey (Antequera Santa Ana >> Granada) will be via bus.
This means that you'll take a high speed train ( AVE) from Madrid to Antequera, then transfer to a bus to travel the rest of the journey to Granada.

My mom & I visited Andalucía last October & we decided to take this route (mainly to avoid traveling longer than 3 hours):

Madrid >> AVE train to Córdoba >> bus to Granada >> bus to Sevilla >> AVE train back to Madrid >> Toledo.

Hope this helps!

Enric,

Thanks for the article!
Let's hope it's true that the AVE trains will finally travel between Barcelona & Granada.

According to the article, it will take a while longer for the connection between Madrid & Granada.

Enric, you're a night owl, it's almost 2am for you!
