Nerja or Tangier

I'm limited on time so was wondering which town to drop???? If I did Tangier, I'd hire a guide from Rick's book for the day I was there.
Wondering what other travelers think.

How many nights were you planning to spend in Nerja? A daytrip to Tangier pretty much requires two nights in Tarifa. Tarifa/Tangier is certainly a more exciting combination, less relaxing.

Extraordinary trade off one piece of very modest size cheese to a large piece of chalk, neither of any great worth.

I went to Tangier for the day. You don't need to hire a guide from rick's book, but a guide is a must. I booked a day trip with a company in Torremolinos where I was staying. It included the bus ride to Tarifa, the ferry across, the guide in Tangier, and the return trip. I think it was 25 or 27E last year. It is a busy trip. Very different, a lot of traveling for a few hours in Tangier. You don't mention where you will be coming from. The ferry ride isn't long, but the trip to Tarifa is an hour + depending on where you are coming from. 1 1/2 hr from Torremolinos. Make sure you arrive in Tarifa enough in advance of the ferry departing. We almost got left behind due to the slowness of them processing the people! Stood in line for 20 minutes at Tarifa.

I love Nerja! I went for a day last year and this year went back for a week. I am thinking of going back for 2 more weeks. It is a beautiful beach town. If you want relaxing, beautiful ocean views, quaint town, then Nerja is it. Not as exotic as Tangier but it is beautiful. There are some caves you can visit if you haven't seen caves, the town has at least 1 old church, some shopping in cute streets, really nice beaches and great weather!
