Is 3 nights too long at the beach side village as a base? We do want to rest and think we can take a day trip to Grenada from there (1 1/4 hrs by car).

Nerja is small and it is easy to access Granada and Malaga as day trips. If your desire to to gain some days of restful vacation time amidst your travels then Nerja is a good option. Keep in mind the beach will be more pebbly then sandy. Strongly suggest you use the Alhambra parking lot located at the top of the Alhambra. You also need to book Alhambra tickets NOW!
